Dome at Woods Hole

Art & Science Education Center

Freelance Graphic Designer | Woods Hole, MA

April - September 2018

During the spring and summer 2018, I collaborated with a non-profit organization in Woods Hole, Cape Cod, tasked with restructuring an historic Geodesic Dome, a visionary project designed by architect Buckminster Fuller in 1953. The Dome, out of use since its days as a restaurant in the ‘80s, was slated to become an arts and cultural center, blending together art, technology, and science. My role was pivotal in creating a visual narrative and crafting a brand identity to showcase its revival.

With a focus on community engagement, I started on the creative challenge of articulating the essence of the Dome's transformation. Through design and storytelling, we aimed to generate enthusiasm and support, particularly during the vibrant summer months on Cape Cod. Crucial to our efforts was the development of a distinctive logo, symbolizing the Dome's resurgence and serving as a rallying point for fundraising efforts.

The collective vision was to establish the Dome as a beacon of innovation and creativity, breathing new life into the seaside village of Woods Hole. With planning and design, the plan was to build a sense of community pride and excitement for the Dome's promising future.

Because I was spearheading the design process, I provided sketches and went through different rounds of feedback and iternations with the client in order to make sure they were satisfied with the end result and that the design was consistent throughout various touchpoints. I was able to establish a great relationship with this client, which made the entire project much easier to approach.
